10 World’s Biggest Pork-Producing Countries – According to FAO Statistical Database in 2024,
there are 10 world’s biggest pork-producing countries in 2026. Pork/pig’s meat has basically become one of
the most popular meats in the world. As of now, pork is still one of the most
widely consumed meats in the world and it influences the existence of many
cuisines in some countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and parts of
Africa.
Statistically, according to the FAO Statistical Database in 2026,
the production of pig’s meat all over the world is around 125 million tons in
the year 2024 which still becomes one of the most produced meats besides beef, and
chicken. According to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the world’s
production of pig meat from time to time has gradually increased. In
1961, the world’s production was just 24.7 million tons. Furthermore, in 2024, after more than
65 years, the world’s production of meat reached 125 million tons. Overall, in
the last 60 years, the world’s production of pig meat has increased around 100
million tons.

Pork is basically obtained from domesticated pigs (Sus scrofa
domesticus). Historically, the animal husbandry of pigs started in 5000 BC. Nowadays,
classified as red meat because it contains
myoglobin, pork is eaten both freshly cooked and could be preserved. Ham,
bacon, gammon, and sausage are examples of cured/canned pork. As of now, there are several popular breeds of pigs for producing
its meat, namely Yorkshire, Landrace, Duroc, Hampshire, Berkshire, Erhjin,
Fengjing, Ibérico, Russian Large White, and Bamei.

2024, the production of Pig Meat in Africa continent around 2,365,672 tons, the
Americas with 25,168,531 tons, Asia with 68,345,923 tons, Europe with
28,868,675 tons, and Oceania with 608,399 tons. Specifically, the Asia, Europe,
and Americas regions still became the main producers of pig’s meat according to the Statistical Database from
FAOSTAT in 2024.

1. China
China will still become the world’s biggest Pork-producing Country
in 2024. Statistically, the production of China’s pig meat is around 57,060,000
tons. Geographically, China’s pig main production area can be divided into six
major districts. Firstly, the middle and lower parts of the Yangtze River are
around some provinces, i.e., Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and
Anhui provinces. Secondly, North China can be included in Shanxi, Shandong, and
Henan provinces). Thirdly, Northeast China consists of Liaoning, Jilin, and
Heilongjiang provinces. Fourthly, Southeast China consists of Fujian,
Guangdong, Guizhou, and Hainan provinces. Fifty, the municipality area consists
of Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai provinces. Lastly, the other area in 10
provinces in China.
In the pig livestock industry, there are some popular companies
which lead the pig's meat market share in China, including Muyuan Foods, and
Wens Foodstuff Group. Meanwhile, in terms of Chinese cuisines, some Chinese
dishes are made from Pig meat as the main ingredients, namely Hong Shao Rou

Biggest Pork-Producing Country in 2024 and became one of the world's largest
exporters of pork with destination markets to Mexico, Japan, China, Canada, and
South Korea. Commonly, in the USA, Pig meat is one of the most popular meats
besides chicken and beef. Statistically, according to the FAO Statistical Database (FAOSTAT), the production of Pig meat
from Stars and Stripes reached 12,611,319 tons in 2024. Geographically, there
are 10 biggest states that have huge production of Pig Meat. These states are
Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, Ohio,
Oklahoma, and South Dakota.
3.Brazil
Brazil will be the 3rd world’s biggest Pork-producing country in
2024. Statistically, the production of Brazil’s Pig Meat in 2024 reached
5,358,897 tons. Geographically, there are some provinces in Brazil that have
huge production of Slaughtered Pigs annually. These primary areas in Brazil are
Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Goiás, e Mato Grosso do
Sul. In the Brazil Pig meat industry, there
are some companies which dominated the pig meat market in Brazil and these companies include BRF S.A., JBS (Seara), Aurora Alimentos, and Frimesa.
Furthermore, as one of the most consumed of meats in Brazil, Pork has
influenced the Brazilian Cuisine and some of the dishes composed the pork as
the main ingredients are Feijoada, Costela de Porco (Pork Ribs), Pernil,
Torresmo, Linguiça.
4. Spain
Spain still become
the 4th world’s biggest pork-producing country in
2024 and the leading pork country producer in the European Union.
Statistically, the production of Spain’s pig meat in 2024 reached 4,956,040
tons. Geographically, there is a main area/province that has a huge population
of pigs, and these provinces include Mérida, Hues ca, Zaragoza, Murcia,
Barcelona, and Segovia. Statistically, Pig industries are the main contributor
of livestock in Spain that contributes 37 percent of all national livestock
industry. Furthermore, in relation to pig meat
agribusiness, Spain still became one of the biggest exporters of Pig meat in
the world besides the USA and China. In Spain, related to culinary
aspects, some of the cuisine made from pig meat include Jamón ibérico (cured
ham), paella (rice dish often with pork), chorizo (spicy cured sausage). In

tons in 2024. Geographically, there are some regions of pig production in
Russia. These areas are Tver, Pskov, Tambov, Pskov, and Voronezh. In the Russian market, there are some
companies becoming the market leader and dominating the pig market in Russia. These companies include
Miratorg, Sibagro, Rusagro, and Cherkizovo. Related to culinary aspects, some
of the Russian dishes made from pig meat as ingredients are Shashlik, Pelmeni,
Salo, Kholodets, Kotleta.
6. Germany
Germany is the 6th world’s Biggest Pork-Producing country in 2024.
Statistically, the production of Pig meat from Germany reached 4,289,110 tons
in 2024. Geographically, there are some areas of pig production. The primary
areas of pig production are concentrated in the north-west, especially in the
states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Furthermore, related to
culinary aspects, some dishes in Germany made from Pig meat include Schweinsbraten (roast pork), sauerkraut and pork,

Vietnam is the next biggest country of pig meat in 2024. According

in Vietnam reached 3,785,000 tons. In this country, there are some regions which become the major
production of Pig in Vietnam. These are Ho Chi Minh City, Central Vietnam,
Northwest, and Northwest. Genetically, there are some well-known local genetic
of pigs. These local pigs are the Lang Hong
and Mong Cai. Furthermore, in Vietnam, there are some popular cuisines made
from Pork, namely Bún chả (grilled pork with rice vermicelli), nem rán (fried
spring rolls). Related to pig agribusiness in Vietnam, there are some companies
which dominate the pig market in Vietnam, and these companies include C.P. Vietnam (Charoen
Pokphand), Masan MEATLife, Dabaco, BaF Vietnam, GreenFeed.
8. Canada
Canada is the next biggest country from the American region that
has huge production of pig meat in 2024 and still become one of the largest
exporters of pig meat which exports roughly 70% of Canada's total pork
production. Statistically, the production of pig meat in Canada reached
2,275,356 tons. Geographically, there are some main regions in Canada that
contribute to the production of national pig meat. These regions are Mani hot,
Saskatchewan, Alberta, Quebec, and Ontario. In the Canadian Pig meat industry,
there are some companies which dominated the market, including Canada Packers,
Olymel, HyLife, Conestoga Meats. Related to culinary aspects, some of
the Canadian dishes made from Pig Meat are Peameal

reached 2,094,250 tons. Geographically, the main area of pig farming in France
is in the French Great West, specifically in the regions of Brittany and Pays
de la Loire. In the Agribusiness aspects, The French pork industry is dominated
by "Cooperatives" (members-owned groups) and companies that produce
the meat including Cooperl Arc Atlantique, Groupe Bigard, Agromousquetaires (Josselin

meat in 2024. Statistically, the production of pig meat in Poland was 1,910,030
tons. Geographically, there are main regions in Poland that have the highest
contributor than other areas. These provinces are The Greater Poland province,
Kujawy-Pomerania, Masovia, Pomerania, and Łódz. In terms of the pig meat industry, The
Polish processing sector of pig meat is dominated by some large companies’
