They have a huge production of apples. With these productions, they can fulfill domestic consumption and meet export foreign markets. In the year 2024, apple production recorded 97.8 million tons with 4.6 hectares of harvested area.

Because it belongs to Rosaceae, this plant has a close relation with cherry (Prunus subg. Cerasus), apricots (Prunus armeniaca), peach (Prunus persica), and pear (Pyrus L). 1. China, mainland        

China become the biggest country producers of apple fruits production. In 2024, Apple’s production from “Panda Country” reached 51.28 million tons. Geographically, in this country, there are some main regions of production of Apple. These are Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei, and Henan provinces in the Bohai Bay area, and Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Gansu provinces in the Loess Plateau area. During the 1980s, in this country, there are some popular apple cultivars. These include Ralls Janet, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, and Jonathan. At the present time, more than 70 percent of the cultivation area of apples are used for Red Fuji, Starkrimson, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, and Gala apple cultivars.

 

2.United States of America        

The United States of America became the 2nd world’s biggest country producers of apple fruits. Statistically, in 2024, the production of the USA's apples reached 4.92 million tons. Geographically, in the USA, the top ten apple-producing states are Washington, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Virginia, North Carolina, Oregon, Ohio, and Idaho.  Based on the cultivars of apples in this country, there are some popular apple fruits in this country. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious Apples, Honeycrisp Apples, Idared Apples, Cosmic Crisp, Jonathan Apples, Enterprise Apples, Empire Apples, and Cortland Apples are some of the most cultivated apple cultivars in the USA.

 

3. Türkiye           

Türkiye become the 3rd world’s biggest country producer of apple fruits. In 2024, the production of Turkey's apple reaches 4.42 million tons. Geographically, in Turkiye, apples are grown in many regions, but approximately 50 percent of all commercial apple production in Tuerkiye comes from three provinces, namely Isparta, Karaman, and Nigde. Genetically, based on the cultivar, there are some popular apples. Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Gala, Jonagold, and Braeburn varieties are some of the popular Apple cultivars in Turkey and still becomes the most cultivated apple in Turkey.

 

4.Poland

Poland became the 4th biggest country producer in apple production. In 2024, the production of Poland’s apple reached 3.38 million tons. Statistically, in Poland, apple trees are produced mainly in the Grójec region in the Masovia province. Based on genetic aspects, there are some popular Apples. Antonówka, Cortland, Gala, Gloster, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Idared are some of the popular Apples in Poland and have more acreage areas of cultivating in this country.             

 

5.India 

India became the 5th biggest country prtoducer of apple production. In 2024, production reached 2.62 million tons. In India, Apple is primarily cultivated in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, hills of Uttar Pradesh, and Uttaranchal. Furthermore, Apple plantation in India is also found in minor areas, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Punjab, and Sikkim. In terms of genetic conditions, In India, there are some popular Apple cultivars cultivated in India. These are Ambri Apple, McIntosh apple, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Honeycrisp, Sunehari, Lal Ambri, Chaubattia Anupam

 

6. Italy

Italy became the 6th biggest country producer of apple production. Statistically, in 2024, the apple production of Italy reached 2.39 million tons. Based on geographical aspects, in Northern Italy, the autonomous province of South Tyrol has the biggest single area producing apple trees in Italy and Europe.  Based on genetic aspects, there are some popular apples in Italy. Golden Delicious, Annurca, Campania, Renetta, Braeburn, Elstar, Fuji, Gala, Gloster, Granny Smith, Jonagold, Morgenduft, Red Delicious, Steiman, and Pinova are some of the popular apples in Italy.

 

7. Iran (Islamic Republic of)         

Iran became the 7th world’s biggest country producer of apples. In 2024, the production of Apple from Iran reached 2.34 million tons. Statistically, West Azerbaijan province is the leading apple producer in Iran which has 277 population of apple trees in each hectare. Based on the genetic aspects, there are some popular apples in Iran. Golden Apple, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and Royal Gala are some of the popular Apple fruits in Iran.

 

8. Russian Federation    

Russia became the 8th world’s biggest country of apple production. In 2024, the production of Russian’s apple reached 2.01 million tons. Statistically, the leading regions in the production of apples in Russia are located in Kabardino-Balkaria, Krasnodar, and Stavropol Territories, Tula, Tambov, Lipetsk, Volgograd Regions. Based on the genetic aspects, there are some popular cultivated apples in Russia.  Antonovka, Bogatyr, Simirenko, Anis, Moskovskoe, Zimnee are some of popular Apples in Russia.

 

9. France            

France became the 9th  world’s biggest country producer of apple fruits. In 2024, the production of Apple from France reached 1.96 million tons. Geographically, there are some major areas of Apple's production in France.Specifically, these areas are Pays de Loire, PACA, South France, Tarn and Graronne, Normandy, and Brittany. In this country, there are some popular Apples cultivars which are easily found in France. These are Pommes des Alpes de Haute Durance, Pomme du Limousin, Calville Blanc Apples, and Juliet Apples.

 

10. Uzbekistan

 

Uzbekistan also has huge production of Apple Fruits. Statistically, the total production of Apppe fruits from Uzbekistan reached 1.48 million tons in 2024. Geographically, some of regions oa apple orchard or plantation in Uzbekistan can be found in Tashkent province (Uzbekistan), Namangan province (Uzbekistan) and Jizzakh province (Uzbekistan). Genetically, in Uzbekistan, some popular apple cultivars, namely Renet Simirenko, Starkrimson, Golden delishes.

 

11. South Africa

South Aftica is the next largest country producer of apple fruit. Statistically, according to its annual report of 2024, total production of Apppe from South Africa reached 1.32 million tons. Geographically, in South Africa, there are some main regions of Apple Cultivation or plantation. The Western Cape province still becomes the largest apple producing area in South Africa, and together with the Eastern Cape province. Overall, Western Cape and Eastern Cape contribute more than 95 percent of South Africa's apple production. Furthermore, some small plantation areas of apple in South Africa can be found in the Free State, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo Provinces. Based on the climatic conditions, the Harvesting time of apple for South African's apples typically begins at the end of January and runs through to June, with peak harvest times falling between February and April. Genetically, there are some popular apple cultivars in South Africa, specifically Six cultivars dominate apple production in South Africa and account for approximately 80 percent of area planted. These popular cultivars are Golden delicious, Royal Gala, Cripps Pink, Granny Smith, Fuji, Topred/Staking.

 

12. Chile             

Chile become the 12th biggest country of apple production. In 2024, the production of Apple from Chile reached 1.29 million tons.  In Chile, there are some main regions of apple production. These areas include Maule and O’Higgins and La Araucania. Based on genetic aspects, there are some popular apples in Chile. These are Royal Gala, Richard Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala, Tenroy Royal Gala, and Honeycrisp are some popular Apples in Chile.
