Economically, it commonly can be used in the furniture and handicraft industries. Meanwhile, in other countries, rattan can huge important benefit into its usage as medicinal uses, raft making, house construction, and its rattan leaves can be used extensively as a thatching material. Biologically, rattan can be included into Order: Arecales; Family: Arecaceae. The largest rattan genus is Calamus, with about 370-400 species (Dransfield., 2001).

Basically, along with development of its usage from time to time. Rattan can be strategic commodity. Many countries still utilized rattans to creates innovative furniture products and others. 1.Indonesia      

Indonesia is the biggest exporters of Rattan furniture in 2021. Biologically, In Indonesia, rattan can be found in some forrest area in the island of Sumbawa, Sulawesi and Kalimantan/ Borneo. According to United Nations (UN) Comtrade Database, the export value of rattan furniture from Indonesia reached $ 45,155,912. Geographically, in Indonesia, some of the furniture industries can be found in Cirebon, Bali, Jepara and Semarang. Based on the data of Ministry of Trade of The Republic of Indonesia in 20214, some destination market of Indonesia’s furniture includes the United Kingdom with US$32.28 million (8.79%), Germany with US$26.03 million (7.09%), Japan with US$22.54 million (6.14%) and France with US$19.44 million (5.30%).

2. United States of America (USA)          

United States of America is the second-largest exporter of furniture in 2021. Economically, the export value of Rattan furniture from United States of America (USA) reached $ 28,563,326.

3.Philippines    

Philippines also has huge production of rattan furniture in 2021. Economically, the export value of rattan furniture from Philippines reached $ 10,864,527. Geographically, in Phillipines, the main growing areas of Rattan located in the Mindanao region, while the manufacturing business is mostly located in Cebu, Pampanga, and Metro Manila (Baja-Lapis., 1998). Economically, United States of America (USA) and Australia are some of the destination countries of rattan-based furniture from Phillipines.

Belgium is the 7th largest exporters of rattan furniture in 2021. According to United Nations (UN) Comtrade in 2022, the export value of rattan furniture from Belgium reached $ 1,475,425.

8.Viet Nam        

Viet Nam is the 8th largest exporter of rattan furniture in 2021. Statistically, the export value of rattan from Viet Nam reached $ 1,324,995. In Vietnam, rattan is one of the most important NTFP after timber and bamboo. Vietnamese people have utilized rattan for a long time as raw material for weaving and making home appliances for domestic use and sale (Nghia et al., 2000).

Biologically, some commonly species that can be found in Vietnam, namely Calamus tetradactylus, Calamus rudentum and Calamus walkeri. At present, there are three main regions of rattan growing regions in Vietnam ( Dzung., 2000) including Northwest ( Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Son Laand Lai Chau provinces), North central (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces), South central and Central Highlands (Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dac Lac, Lam Dong, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces).

9.Germany        

Germany also became one of the biggest exporters of rattan furniture in 2021. Statistically, the export value of rattan from Germany reached $ 1,029,595.

10.France          

France is the 10th biggest exporter of rattan furniture in 2021. The economic value of rattan furniture exporting value around $ 987,215.
