10 World’s Biggest Goat Milk Producing Countries– Based on data from the FAO Statistical Database (FAOSTAT), there are 10 World’s Biggest Goat Milk Producing Countries in 2021. They are goat milk-producing countries with high production volumes. This high production is of course used to meet domestic needs and some of its production is also used to fulfill foreign demands.

Functionally, milk is a source of animal protein that contains all the compounds needed by the human body. Therefore, milk is considered a highly nutritious and complete food ingredient. In this World, goat milk is still one of the most consumed milks and the consumption of it still gets higher and higher. According to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the production of Goat milk is increasing trends.  It can be seen in statistical production in the last 50 years. In the year 1970, the world’s production of goat meat was just 6,482,111 tons. Meanwhile, in 2022, the world’s production of goat meat reached 19,191,572 tons.

In the continental area, the main production of goat milk spread into several regions. Specifically, the main production regions are still located in Asia with output around 12 million tons in 2022. Africa is in second place with production around 4.4 million tons and Europe in third with 3  million tons.

1. India

India was the World’s Biggest Goat Milk Producing country in 2022. Based on data from FAO, the production of goat milk from Mahatma Gandhi reached 6.2 million tons. In India alone, there are 5 largest states of goat milk. The states include Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. In more detail, Rajasthan produces goat milk reaching 1.8 million tons, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 1.2 million tons, Madhya Pradesh with 556 thousand tons, Gujarat with 267 thousand tons. and Maharashtra with 247 thousand tons. In India, the types of goats used for milk production are Jamunapari, Beetal, Jakhrana, and Surti goats.


2. Sudan

Sudan is the 2nd World’s biggest country producing goat milk in the world in 2023. Based on data from FAO, Sudan’s goat milk production reached 1.1 million tons. In the country of Sudan, the goat population is widely spread in the Central, Southern, and Daffur regions. Furthermore, some of the species of goat for milk production in Sudan including Nubian Goat, Desert Goat, Saanen Goat, Alpine Goat, Nubian-Saanen Cross


3. Pakistan             

Pakistan is the 3rd largest country producing goat milk in the world in 2022. Based on data from FAO, Pakistan’s goat milk production reaches 991 thousand tons. In this country, there are several types of goats that are bred for milk production, namely Beetal, Dera Din Panah, Damani, and Kamor. Geographicall, many goats farm located in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).


4. Bangladesh       

Bangladesh is the 4th World’s biggest goat’s milk Producing Country in 2022. Based on data from FAO, Bangladesh’s goat milk production reached 2.6 million tons. In this country, there is a type of goat, namely the Black Bengal which is bred for milk. Geographically, many goat farming are located in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Comilla.


5. France            

France is the 5th largest country producing goat’s milk in the world of 2022. Based on data from FAO, the production of goat’s milk in France reached 709 thousand tons. Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Pays-De-La-Loire, and Occitanie are some of the regions in France that are central to goat milk production in France.


6. Turkiye

Turkiye is the 6th largest country producing goat milk in the world in 2022. Based on data from FAO, Turkey’s goat milk production reached 622 thousand tons. In this country, there are several types of goats that are developed for milk production, namely Hair goats and Angora Goats. Based on population goat in Turkiye, Goat farming in Turkiye is primarily concentrated in the eastern (Erzurum, Ağrı, and Kars) and Southeastern (Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, and Mardin) regions of the country.


 7. South Sudan

South Sudan was the 7th largest country producing goat milk in the world in 2022. Based on data from FAO, South Sudan’s goat milk production reached 460 thousand tons. Based on species, there are some goat destined for milk production including Nubian Goat, Desert Goat,  Saanen Goat, and Alpine Goat.  

 


8. Spain

Spain is the 8th largest country producing goat’s milk in the world in 2022. Based on data from FAO, Spain’s goat milk production reaches 519 thousand tons. Statistically, there are several central areas of goat milk production in Spain. South (Andalusia: 41%), center-east (Castilla la Mancha), Canary Islands, and southeast (Murcia) are some of the central regions of goat milk production in Spain. Based on its production, there are some species of Goat for milk production including Malagueña, Murciana-Granadina, Palentina, Serrana,  Saanen, and Alpine.

 


9. Netherlands

The Netherlands is the 9th largest country producing goat milk in the world in 2021. Based on data from FAO, the production of goat milk in the Netherlands reached 387 thousand tons. In this country, most dairy goats are found in the provinces of Noord-Brabant and Gelderland. Basically, some of the goat species for milk production includes Dutch Landrace, Saanen, and Alpine.


10. Indonesia

Indonesia also has huge production of goat’s milk. Statistically, according to FAOSTAT, the production of Goat milk from Indoenesia reached 370 thousand tons. Based on its species, there are some popular goats for milk production including Etawah, Kacang, Sapera, Senduro, and Menggolo. Geographically, there the population of goat in Indonesia concentrated in Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur, Jawa Barat and Lampung.
