Many people recognize its famous slogan, namely everyday low price (EDP).  Historically, this company was founded in 1945 by Sam Walton, the former employee of J.C Penney. Along with the business development of the company, after more than 60 years, walmart has grown into 10,500 stores across the globe and E-commerce website in 19 countries with approximately 8,000 pickup and 7,800 delivery locations. Furthermore, Walmart Inc can serve approximately 255 million customers. Operationally, this company still has its main office in Bentonville, Arkansas, U.S.

Based on the Annual Report on 1999 to 2023, the financial position of Walmart is in positive performance.  The Assets always grow from time to time. In 1999, the asset of Walmart is just 70.3 and in 2023, it becomes 252 billion US Dollars. It has increased more than 3 times.  The Liabilities, by the way, also performed the same way. The liabilities of this company in 1999 were just 44 billion US Dollars and in 2023, it increased to 162 billion US Dollars.

Based on the Performance from 1999 to 2023, Walmart showed positive performance in their business. It was shown by their consistent net income from time to time. In 1999, the revenue of Walmart is 165 billion US Dollars and in 2023, it becomes 648 billion US Dollars. Furthermore, the net income of Walmart from time to time always showed positives performance. In 2000, the net income of Walmart is just 5.3 billion US Dollars and in 2023, it becomes 16.2 billion US Dollars.


in Walmart, based on the financial ratios, some parameters can be calculated. Debt- to-equity ratio (D/E), debt-to-asset ratio (D/A), and Net Profit Margin (NPM). Debt to Equity ratio (DER) and bebt-to-asset ratio (DAR) can describe the financial structure of the company. Meanwhile, net profit margin (NPM) can measure the efficiency of the company in doing its business.

Based on this value, it means that the comparison between debt and assets is about 0.6: 1 or it can be implied that every one US Dollar of asset is equivalent to 0.6 US dollars of liability.


Based on the Net Profit Margin (NPM), the value of Walmart’s NPM from 2000 to 2023 is about 0.031. This value means that the percentage of net income is about 3.1% of the revenue. Basically, it can be implied that every one dollar of revenue can become a net income of about 0.031 US dollars.
