Geographically, the area of buffalo production in India can be found in several states. Some of the main production areas are Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab. In India, there are many Indigenous buffalo breeds. Some of them are Murrah, Surti, Jaffrabadi, Bhadawari, Nili Ravi, Mehsana, Nagpuri, Toda, Banni, Bargur, Chhattisgarhi, Chilika, Gojri, Kalahandi, Marathwadi, and Pandharpuri.
