These commodities basically were produced by Italian people to fulfil their consumptions and these commodities has a large numbers of cultivation areas.  

Commonly, Italy is one of the most popular Europe nations with much uniqueness on its culture, people, culinary, and many more. 1. Raw milk of cattle     

Milk of cattle still became the most produced agricultural commodities from Italy in 2021. According to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the production of milk of cattle from Italy reached 13,202,450 tons. Geographically, in Italy, according to Clal, the main regions of producing cattle milk located in Lombardy (46%), Veneto (9%), Piedmont (9%), Trentino (4%), and other regions. In Italy, many productions of cattle milk can be processed into Liquid milk, cheese, fermented milk (Yogurt), cream, butter.

As a positive development of dairy industries, there are some leading dairy companies in Italy which has many diversified products dan its derivative products of milk. Some of the popular dairy companies in Italy are Granarolo S.P.A, Edigio Galbani, Parmalat, Mondelez Italia, Casefici Granterre, Zanetti S.P.A and others. Furthermore, in Italy, there are some popular cheeses (one of derivatives products of milk), namely Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan Cheese), Mozzarella, Fontina, Gorgonzola, Pecorino Romano, and others.

2. Grapes

In Italy, total harvested areas of wine grapes around 673 thousand hectares (ha).  Geographically, According to Insituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT), the wine grapes in Italy can be found mostly in Veneto which produce 1.5 million tons of wine grapes, Puglia (1.2 million tons), Emilia Romagna (865 thousand tons), Sicily (608 thousand tons) and others. Functionally, many of the harvested grapes is used to make the wine.

3. Wheat           

Wheat also has huge production in Italy in 2021. Statistically, according to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the production of Wheat from Italy reached 7,294,570 tons. In Italy, the wheat can be divided into grano duro / hard wheat / durum wheat and grano tenero / soft wheat / common wheat. Geographically, the cultivation areas of common wheat located in Emilia Romagna with total cultivation areas around 147 thousand hectares (ha), Veneto (118 thousand hectares (ha)), Piemonte (88 thousand hectares), Lombardia (70 thousand hectares), and others. Meanwhile, the main cultivation areas of durum wheat located in Puglia (347 thousand hectares (ha)), Sicilia (282 thousand hectares (ha)), and Emilia Romagna (87 thousand hectares (ha)).  Functionally, in Italy, wheat is usually processed in making of pasta, bread, cakes, and pizzas. Many Italian people consumed these foods.

4. Tomatoes      

Tomatoes is the also had huge production in Italy. According to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the production of Tomatoes from Italy reached 6,644,790 tons. Geographically, the main cultivation areas of tomatoes in Italy located in Emilia Romagna producing around 2.1 million tons, followed by Apulia (1.5 million tons), Lombardy (620 thousand tons), and Sicilia (420 thousand tons). In this country, tomatoes are processed into many kinds of sauces. 

5. Maize (corn)

Maize is another cereal crop with also has abundant productions in Italy. Statistically, the production of maize from Italy reached 6,079,960 tons. Geographically, in Italy, according to Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT), the main cultivation areas of maize (corn) located in Veneto with total areas around 120 thousand hectares (ha), Lombardia (117 thousand hectares (ha)), Piemonte (116 thousand hectares (ha)), and Emilia Romagna (45 thousand hectares (ha)). The harvested maize in Italy usually is processed into maize flour and this flour is used to make polenta, bread, muffins, doughnuts, pancake. Furthermore, some of the maize is also processed into animal feed.

6. Olives            

Olive also has huge production in Italy. In this country, the production of olive fruits reached 2,270,630 tons in 2021. Geographically, in Italy, based on the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT) database in 2023, the main cultivation areas of olive located in Puglia with total areas reaching 344 thousand hectares (ha), followed by Calabria (184 thousand hectares(ha)), Sicilia (161 thousand hectares (ha)), Lazio (81 thousand hectares (ha)), and Toscana (74 thousand hectares (ha)). Olive fruits basically can be processed into olive oil.

7. Apples           

In the year of 2023, the production of Apples in Italy reached 2,211,740 tons. Geographically, in Italy, based on the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT) database in 2023, the main cultivation areas of apples located in Trentino Alto Adige / Südtiro with total areas of apple reaching 27 thousand hectares (ha), followed by Bolzano / Bozen (17 thousand hectares (ha)), Trento (9 thousand ha), Piemonte (7 thousand hectares), and Veneto (6 thousand hectares).

8. Oranges        

Italy produced orange in 2021 reaching 1,770,910 tons. The main cultivation areas of orange in Italia located in Sicilia with total areas reaching 54 thousand hectares, Catania 24 thousand hectares, Puglia (4.7 thousand hectares), Basilicate (3.7 thousand hectares).

9. Sugar beet    

Sugar beet also has huge production in Italy. Statistically, the production of sugar beet from Italy reached 1,510,710 tons. Geographically, in 2022, the main cultivation areas of sugar beet in Italy can be found in Emilia Romagna (15.4 thousand hectares) and Veneto (6.9 thousand hectares). Sugar beet basically can be processed into sweetener.

10. Rice

Rice also has huge production in Italy. Statistically, according to FAO Statistical Corporate Database (FAOSTAT), the production of rice from Italy reached 1,459,310 tons. Overall, the total rice cultivation areas in Italy about 218 thousand hectares (ha). Specifically, the rice cultivation in Italy located in Piemonte (113 thousand hectares) and Lombardia (92 thousand hectares).
